Senior Bullets show true mettle in thrashing of Sembawang Sec

The Bullets starting line-up

The senior boys from the Bowen Bullets finally showed their prowess to defeat Sembawang Secondary School 5-1 in a North Zone Inter-School 'B' Div Boys match yesterday afternoon.

Left winger Rafid Khan opened the accounts in the 13th min with an inch-perfect lob over the Sembawang goalkeeper after latching on to an assist from Muhd Hanafi. The battle in midfield was keen but overall Bowen had the edge with more cutting edge in their final passes. Sembawang were to concede 2 more times in the first half to goals from skipper Tan Ren Yu (19th min) and Javier Ho (28th min).

With a comfortable lead, the Bullets did not sit back but continued to boss the game in the second half. After midfielder Muhd Danial made it 4-0 in the 44th min, the Sembawang boys went on a wild rampage, committing themselves to wild challenges which the referee mostly ignored. They succeeded in getting a goal back in the 51st min off a corner that was deflected into his own goal by a Bullets defender.

Javier Ho then made it 5-1 (61st min) when he got the better of the Sembawang goalkeeper on a 1-on-1. 4 minutes before the end, the Bullets made life difficult for themselves when centre-back Muhd Akmal was adjudged to have handled while bringing the ball down in the penalty box. Fortunately, Sembawang's mini-revival was not to be when the spot kick went well over the bar.
