Senior Bullets recovered the grit in their play to overcome Siling Sec

The Senior Bullets finally produced a performance worthy of their name this afternoon at Woodgrove Secondary School in an Inter-Schools B Div Boys match. Showing tremendous grit and tenacity, the Bullets defeated Siling Secondary School 6-3 to cheers and approval of the spectators.

Siling were adventurous in first 30 minutes but their attacking instincts left many gaps in the middle of the park which Bowen skipper Muhd Danial used intelligently to spread play and put in a few pot shots from outside the penalty box.

In the 37th min, the Bullets finally opened the scoring with urgent pressing in the midfield and winning the ball for a quick counter-attack. As Bullets striker Josiah Phua went after the ball which was moving towards the Siling goalmouth, the Siling goalkeeper panicked and touched the ball into his own net.

The start of the 2nd half saw the Bullets lapse in concentration and allowed Siling to steal a goal back in the 44th min. Boosted by the equaliser, Siling went in front 2 minutes later.

Then the Bowen avalanche started. In the 48th min, Bullets striker David Sanjay was fouled in the air by the Siling goalkeeper in the penalty box and Muhd Danial converted the spot kick to tie the score at 2-2.

The Bowen captain then went on a 4-goal scoring spree within the space of 15 minutes to runaway with the match before being replaced by Tay Wei Lin with a sore ankle.

Siling was allowed a consolation goal in the 78th minute but the result was a forgone conclusion by then.
