In an evenly contested match this afternoon at Woodgrove Secondary, the B Div boys from the Bowen Bullets were edged out 2-1 by Fuchun Secondary School, leaving the Bullets' chances of qualifying for the next round in dire straits.

The Bullets started the match brightly, enjoying better possession and openings but Fuchun skipper Idraki was a constant menace in the Bowen defence. His industry and quick feet were too hot to handle and in the 34th min as he dribbled past 3 Bullets defenders on the left into the penalty box to score the first goal.

Five minutes before half-time, the Bowen defence was too slow coming out from a cleared corner kick and was punished by a stiff shot from just outside the penalty box.

Two defensive errors in the space of 6 minutes were too hard for the Bullets to bear but they never gave up. The boys from Bowen began the 2nd half with purpose and determination and came close to scoring on several occasions.

Bullets skipper Muhd Danial provided some hope in the 75th minute when he found himself at the right place at the right time in the penalty box to slot home a corner kick and reduce the deficit. The Bullets were buzzing again and not before long, Fuchun no. 13 left winger Kevin Vengatesh was sent off with a 2nd yellow card for a bad foul on Bullets right-back Ithar Iqmal.

With an extra man on the field, the Bullets continued searching for the equaliser but it never came. The loss means Fuchun and Woodgrove are now favourites to advance from the group into the quarter-finals stage and the senior Bullets would have to depend on favourable results from other matches to decide their fate.
