C Boys hold their concentration to edge Fuchun 1-0

Bowen Bullets C Div Boys Starting Lin-up

The Bowen C boys survived a late onslaught by Fuchun Secondary School in a Group B encounter in the NZ C Div Boys Football Competition to defeat their opponent 1-0.

Right midfielder Muhd Zulhilmi scored the all-important goal in the 27th minute of the match, finding space in the penalty box to control a long diagonal clearance by Muhd Asyraaf and then driving it past the Fuchun goalkeeper.

The Bowen Bullets looked hungrier team and pressed incessantly in the first half, leaving Fuchun little space to start any meaningful attack. There were few chances after the goal was scored but Bowen had to be in tip-top condition to deflect a desperate attempt by Fuchun in the last 10 minutes of the match.

The Bowen back four was outstanding in keeping Fuchun out. Centre-back Shah Sharizan was always at the right place at the right time, precisely clearing anything that flew into the Bowen half.

The narrow victory pushes Bowen up to the top of the Group B standings with 2 matches played.
