Senior Girls Bullets claim another scalp

The Bowen B Div girls claimed another victory in the National Inter-Schools B Div Girls Football Championship yesterday afternoon at Siglap Secondary School field. This time it was Greenview Secondary that tasted the Bowen Bullets' wrath, losing 0-5 to a long-time rival.

After their resounding victories over Whitley Sec (8-1) and SJI (8-0), the Bowen Bullets were slightly more cautious against their experienced opponents who were made up of seemingly stronger and taller girls. The Yet, it took only 9 minutes for Bullets Sasi to score Bowen's first goal.

As Greenview began to settle down, they produced a few chances of which one brought out a good save from Bowen keeper Crystal Ong. In the 23rd min, the Bullets conceded a penalty which Greenview buried in the net but match referee strangely disallowed the goal for an encroachment into the penalty area by a Bowen player. The re-taken penalty kick was subsequently saved by Crystal.

The opportunity to save the game came and went for Greenview as thereafter, the Bullets pulled further into the lead with 2 more goals from skipper Nur Faradila (28th min) and Siti Nor Aysah (30th min).

The 2nd half saw a composed performance by the Bowen Bullets who grew in confidence as the match wore on. In the 53rd min, Nur Shaahidah slot in Bowen's 4th goal from an assist by utility player Ong Yanling. The subdued Greenview defence then gave away a careless penalty which was converted by Sasi for a 5-0 victory.
